Recreational facilities
Get some exercise and enjoy the Campus grounds
Walk around the grounds
The Wellcome Genome Campus is on a beautiful 125 acres estate, with vast amounts of carefully managed natural spaces. Hinxton Hall Conference Centre and its peaceful orchard are next to two lakes, and the infant river Cam runs across the back of Campus. Take the path down the side of the Conference Centre that leads to the orchard. Continue straight over the little bridge and, at the bottom, turn left and keep going straight. On your right you’ll eventually see a small bridge where you can cross the river to visit the Campus’ wetland nature reserve. This comprises a range of habitats including ponds, grassland, woodland, hedgerow, riverbanks and specimen trees. If you continue a bit further along that path you can cross the railway line (with care) reach the village of Ickleton.
